ACTION TIMELINE

1985 – This plant was first declared a candidate for Endangered Species Act protections.

July 12, 2011 – The Center for Biological Diversity reached a landmark agreement with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service that mandated protection decisions for 757 species, including the Florida brickell-bush and Carter's small-flowered flax.

October 2, 2013 – As a result of a 2011 agreement with the Center for Biological Diversity to fast-track protection decisions for 757 imperiled species across the country, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service proposed Endangered Species Act safeguards for two flowers from Miami-Dade County: the Florida brickell-bush and Carter's small-flowered flax.

October 3, 2013 – Critical habitat was proposed for the Florida brickell-bush and Carter's small-flowered flax.

September 3, 2014 – Pursuant to our 2011 agreement, the Service announced Endangered Species Act protection for the Florida brickell-bush and Carter's small-flowered flax.
